All About the Base
To put it simply, a dildo has a flared base, sometimes with a suction cup for attachment to your surface or harness of choice. Sometimes the base looks like a set of testicles for a more realistic look, but the point of a base to stop the dildo disappearing up inside of you if you use it for anal. Material Matters
Anything that’s going into your body needs to be body-safe, so glass, medical-grade silicone and metals are all great choices – but they’re often the more expensive. Cheaper alternatives like Jelly, TPR/TPE and PVC can be porous, and sometimes have a tacky, sticky feel after use. They do have a softer feel though, and are often easier on your bank balance. Top Tip
Keep a close eye on ‘real feel’ branded materials. Some manufacturers trademark a cheaper material with a name that incorporates a more premium material – like ‘Silicone’. Just because it’s got ‘Silicone’ in the material brand name with a TM after it doesn’t mean it’s actually high grade, non-porous silicone. If the only material listed comes with a trademark TM or a registered trademark ® symbol, you can probably assume it’s a cheaper jelly or TPE product, and decide accordingly.
