Fun fact about Australia – we have laws to prevent misleading consumers. And as consumers ourselves, we love these, so we stand by them. One of the big ones is that for a product to go on sale it has to be sold at a standard non-sale price for a while first. Otherwise there’s nothing stopping retailers inventing a stupidly high price, discounting off it by heaps, and saying it’s ‘on-sale’. A lot of our newest products aren’t on sale simply because they can’t be. Yet.
We can’t always discount it as far as you’d like
Sometimes our contracts with suppliers dictate how much we can discount off a product’s retail price. Or how long we can have an item on sale at a super deep discount. If a product always seems to be at full price across all sites all the time, that can just be the terms the supplier wants and enforces across all their stockists. Now we do negotiate with suppliers and always bring you the best price possible, but that can mean you only get a week of sale. Or maybe even a day.
