Stuck for some Christmas date ideas that aren’t more of the same or super expensive? Kate Manning is here to help!
Holiday chaos has begun! But it doesn’t have to take over your Christmas date nights.
I know. It’s so easy to get bogged down in the ‘things to do’ at Christmas time. Present research, shopping, wrapping, parties, kids on school holidays, writing a million Christmas cards – and getting RSI in your wrist – and planning the perfect Christmas day. I’m exhausted just writing about it!
All of the above make a perfect cocktail called ‘Ain’t got no time for romance’’. And that’s poppycock! I know… who says ‘poppycock’ anymore? But you get the drift.
It’s a special time of year, that you should take time to spend with someone special. So whether you’ve got a lot of time or a very little, we’ve listed our 5 favourite Christmas date ideas that will leave you both feeling flirty and festive. And without breaking the bank!
Make Some Edible Body Products
In this article:
Surprise your special person with a holiday date night in for some food prep of a different kind.
Do some research and lay out all your ingredients ready to go, have a few bowls and paint brushes ready and prepare for fun! Mind you, the most fun part will likely be trying out the products on each other (nomnomnom).
To save you trawling recipe sites for Christmas date ideas when you’re already here, have a few of my favourite DIY edible recipes:
Choc Peppermint Body Paint
Melt 250 grams of your favourite chocolate – I personally love white chocolate – then fold in ¼ cup of heavy cream. Finally add a few drops of peppermint oil and leave it to cool. Seriously, make sure the body paint is completely cooled before you paint it on! You could even mix in some finely crushed candy canes, or your Christmas spice blend of choice for a little extra holiday cheer.
Coconut Lavender Lubricant
Coconut oil is a fabulous personal lubricant. It’s slick, yummy, and it smells delightful. I like to mix in a few drops of essential oil such as lavender. It will be hard when stored, but body heat is enough to melt it to the perfect consistency. A friendly reminder: Don’t double dip when using. Wash your hands between applications, or warm it gently and pour it out to avoid any bacteria being added to the mix. You can also use it to provide a sensual massage for a nice, relaxing Christmas date – or any date for that matter!
Tingly Peppermint Lip Balm
You only need 3 ingredients to make this masterpiece. Use it during the day for luscious lips, and during play for tingly sensational fun – for you and for them! Simply mix about 30 grams of beeswax, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and 10 drops of peppermint oil. You’ll need to melt the wax gently – I recommend using a metal bowl over some gently simmering water, but you can use an oven or microwave if you’re careful.
If you’d rather just buy your edibles, or you want a fall back in case it doesn’t taste so good, you can always go for the natural sweetness of honey. For something a bit more exotic, try the KissOBoo Tingly Lip Balm, or Cinnamon Lip Balm. There’s also all the flavoured lubes – I especially like the salted caramel, and ready-to-use scented massage oils.
Have a classic Christmas date with holiday movies
If you want to Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-all in love (sorry, not sorry), nothing beats a cosy night on the lounge watching all the holiday classics. Make a list of your top 5 each and see if you have any crossovers. Don’t forget the popcorn!
Our favourites?
- Home Alone (Disney Plus)
- The Holiday (Netflix, Prime Video, Binge)
- How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Apple TV)
- Elf (Paramount +, Binge, Stan, Foxtel)
- Die Hard – don’t argue, it’s a Christmas movie! (Disney Plus)
- RENT (Apple TV, Binge, Foxtel)
- Carol (Applet TV, Netflix, Stan)
- The Preacher’s Wife (Disney Plus)
- Bridget Jones’s Diary (Apple TV. Binge, Foxtel, Stan)
- Bros (Apple TV)
If you want to turn up the fun a little, wear some daggy – or sexy – Christmas date outfits. Themed onesies are great, as are the range of Christmas Lingerie that fill the stores at this time of year.
Here’s a date idea: play some sexy games…
Why not spice up your time together with some fun games? Playfulness and intimacy go hand in hand. Take some time to brainstorm some kinky ideas, or pick an idea from our list below:
Break out the sex dice
The great thing about sex dice is that they’re affordable, discreet, and you can mix multiple sets together for even more options. With options for foreplay, sexual activities and positions, and inclusive sets for couples of all genders, you can easily find a set – or sets – that work for you!
The kinky wish jar
Write kinky/intimate wishes on little pieces of paper. Throw all of your wishes in a jar. Then on date night, you can each pick an idea out of the other’s jar and get adventurous! Food for thought… Why do it on only one night? Why not pick a night every week to explore each other’s deepest desires?
Strip Twister
This one’s a cult classic -kind of! It’s fun, easy, and the perfect extra use for that Twister mat you’ve got stuffed in the cupboard. Start play as normal, and simply remove an item of clothing every time you land on a chosen colour. Start with the same number of clothing pieces so it’s fair – or be cheeky and layer yourself secretly! Just be ready for this date idea to move away from the game and into other games eventually…
Spice up your Christmas date with an app controlled vibrator
This is a date idea that can work with your holiday schedule. Discreetly, of course. Grab yourself a remote, or app controlled panty vibe, butt plug or penis ring and let your partner choose when to make it buzz! Just remember to have a talk about boundaries and kink in general if this sort of play isn’t something you’ve already negotiated.
Transform your living room into a romantic den for a stay in Christmas date
If you’d prefer to stay in and get cosy, change up your living space. Move the furniture aside and layer the floor with blankets, fluffy rugs and cushions. Have an ice bucket with some nice bubbles on hand, line the room with candles and play some music. If you aren’t keen on candles, you can cover lamps with scarves or thin cloths (don’t let them touch the bulb) for soft, romantic lighting.
A good friend once walked into a setup such as this with her then boyfriend. He happened to be standing in the middle of the room with a big red bow wrapped around his… well… use your imagination! She was clearly impressed: they’re now married! Although he did apparently find it hard – pardon the pun – to keep well… hard… waiting for her as she was 20 minutes late!
Get Your Titanic On
No, we don’t mean getting on a boat and greedily hogging a floatation device forcing your date to drown – seriously Rose, move over!
We mean get arty and draw them like one of your French girls! Pose nude for each other and take turns doing sketches. It doesn’t matter if you’re an artist or not, the experience is fun, and can be incredibly erotic… if you don’t get a fit of the giggles. Don’t be afraid to get up close to check on details or… arrange them for a better pose.
I speak from experience when I say you need to make sure the room is warm! Set some mood lighting, soft music and for added fun, talk dirty and watch your partner blush. Get creative with your poses and consider making it a regular event where you collect the art. Imagine looking back at those memories later in life! Maybe just avoid sharing with the grandkids.
I hope you feel inspired by these Christmas date ideas. Have fun, be together, be happy and be safe. We wish you all a Merry Flirty Christmas!
